Wow...

We actually came out of San Jose with a win! Well, a shootout win, but a win all the same.

I'm very impressed. Considering how we've been beaten by the Bruins this season, I didn't think the Canes would win against the leaders of the West. Obviously, I was wrong.

And, wow, I just watched the highlights online - man, was that third Canes goal sweet. I mean, LaRose passes to Whitney, who shoots through the crease to get it to Cullen, streaking in from the blue line, who then passed back to Whitney to knock it in - Wow!

Michael Leighton also looked like he made some pretty stellar saves - maybe some of the goals were a bit soft, but the saves online are definitely highlight reel quality.

The bad news about this win is that Eric Staal left in the third with some kind of lower-body injury, although it sounds day-to-day at the worst.

The next game is against Phoenix tomorrow. I can tell you that I have a much better outlook on this team after this game.

Less than 24 hours!

Opening night is tomorrow! Soooo psyched!

And according to my last poll, 25% of you are either: "Definitely psyched.", "Totally psyched!", or "Psyched is an understatement!", 12% of you are either "Absolutely psyched" or "I am the definition of psyched!".

Y'know what the weird thing is? I can spell "psyched" no problem, but I couldn't spell "excited" (exicited)...

Anyways... I was planning on doing a huge preview post, but I'm so tired tonight, so you'll just have to deal with me rambling on about how psyched I am.

Yeah... Hockey starts tomorrow!!!!

Thoughts that have crossed my mind in the last 24 hours (bullet-style!):

- I can't believe I'm going to school Monday.
- I can't wait for fantasy hockey to start up.
- Canes players are once again congregating at the RecZone - a sign that hockey will be starting soon!
- Please have Donald Driver be okay!
- I don't want to go to school!
- I am so glad I went to this Baltimore Orioles game and not this one.
- OW! Fire is hot!
- I think I'm addicted to this game.
- Michael Vick is an idiot, and the judge should throw out his plea bargain.
- Once again, Canes get screwed over by national television.
- Blogger polls' effectiveness is sporadic. But that won't stop me from using it!

Happy Trails, Vasicek

To add to the string of ex-Cane movement around the league, Josef Vasicek was signed by the New York Islanders for a one-year, $750,000 contract.

Well, I guess Vasicek wasn't technically an "ex-Cane" because he was still with the team at the end of the season. Although, considering all he contributed to the team (2 goals, 7 assists, and a -6), he might as well have stayed in Nashville.

Granted, Vasicek is a good player, but the last few years didn't seem to pan out for him in the Carolina style of play. Of course, this could be because he never fully recovered from his knee injury back in late '05. After he returned, he never seemed to be on the same page as everyone else out on the ice

Maybe New York will work out for him.

Wow, it's boring.

Seriously, I am so bored that I'm trying to solve the Rubik's Cube that has been in this room gathering dust for the past 8 years.

You realize, that instead of typing 15 posts that proclaim how bored I am, I could be concentrating on writing 5 good posts about hockey? (Which, believe it or not, is what this blog is about...)
