Update on summer boredom

Not much has happened for the Canes in the past week.

Today's N&O article suggests that the signing of Jeff Hamilton might be the last free agency move for this offseason. Instead, it appears the Canes will look to trade to find another canidate for the third-line center. And that possible defenseman trade (mentioned back before the free agency date) is still on the table. I thought that trade had died a while ago...

And... that's it for now.

Don't want to see Wallin go. Don't really want to see Babchuk go either, but there is obviously some disagreements with him and the team. I think Babchuk should have gotten more play time, but that doesn't seem to be the popular opinion. And as far as this 3rd line center goes, didn't LaRose play there for a few games and do well? It seems like that should have rung a bell. I know that LaRose has other roles, as do other people and blah, blah, blah, but "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" which seems to have been the problem we've had with some of these issues.

I kind of agree with LaRose as a third-line center. He did play pretty well when he played center and not wing this past season. I'd still rather the Canes get someone with a little more experience/points at the position... But, if they switch it up between LaRose and Hamilton, it might work.

Or it might blow up in their faces.
