Arbitration and Whatever

There is actually some hockey news today.
Scott Gomez was awarded 5 mil in arbitration. Believe it or not, I actually think this was fair (unlike Briere) because, Gomez is a pretty good player and contributed a lot to the Devils, and this is the same team that is paying Patrick Elias 7.5 mil next season. So, yeah, compared to that contract, this is a pretty good ruling.
But this is a problem for the Devils, because their salaries are already 43.95 mil (info courtesy of TSN and my calculator), which is already too close to the salary cap of 44 mil. So, the Devils are probably going to have to let Gomez walk, or dump a bunch of players. Or sign Gomez and then trade him. Either way, someone has to go.
Gomez would be nice on the Canes roster... not for 5 mil, though. If I was going to steal a player from Jersey, though, it have to be Brian Gionta. (who isn't signed)

Anyways... Enough about Jersey. The Panthers signed Ed Belfour to a $750,000 contract. Honestly, I think Belfour should just retire. He's had, like, 15 back surgeries or something like that.

Yep, that is all that has happened.
