WeeeEEEeeeeEEE!!!!

I am ecstatic right now.

Yes, despite the rumors of a possible Jeff O'Neill return (Rutherford, what did I do to you this summer?), I am absolutely, positively, without-a-doubt ecstatic.

Why? I got my AP test scores back! Three 5s and one 4!
*collapses into hysterical giggles*
If that made no sense to you or have no idea why I'm so excited, you obviously haven't been in high school recently... or at least in the smart kid classes.

Anyways... Taking a second in the "Makes my day" category is the announcement of Opening Night. No, playing Florida isn't that interesting. But the prospect of watching hockey (and tailgating) again is! Plus, it's on a Friday! None of that crappy mid-week, have-to-rush-through-homework, be-super-tired-the-next-morning-when-you-have-to-get-up-at-some-horrendous-hour feeling this year!

And I don't think that last sentence was grammatically correct. Whatever.

Also, not necessarily making my day, but interesting all the same, is the announcement of the "Winter Ice Classic" (outdoor hockey game) being played this season at Wrigley Field with a game between Chicago and Detroit.

Wrigley Field is straight-up awesome. I saw a Cubs-Cardinals game there two years ago. My goodness, you're so close to the field! The stadium is so small compared to the new ones. I think it would be super-cool to see a hockey game there. (Or should I say super-cold? It is the Windy City for a reason...)

I really, really hope that Chicago does NOT take a page out of New York's book and tear down its historic stadium. As much as the new stadiums are packed with cool things to do (and eat!), nothing beats the atmosphere surrounding the old stadiums.

Fantasy hockey!

Ugh.

I apologize for the rather large gap in postage, but school is being a real pain in the behind, and by the time I'm done with all my homework, I just want to go to sleep.

Not that anything has really happened for the Canes in the past week... Official training camp starts on the 14th!

In other news... I've started a fantasy hockey league with Yahoo!. Anyone who reads this blog is open to join, just drop your email address in the comments and I'll forward the league password and whatnot to you... It's bound to be lots of fun!

Frank Kaberle, you are ON NOTICE!

You know what is just incredibly, incredibly stupid? Writing an essay - for a math class. That's right, in my Calculus class we have to write an essay - which doesn't even have to do with math. To put this in perspective, in my AP English class we haven't even had to write an essay yet. And here, on the second day of school, we're assigned an essay for calculus. I mean, COME ON! It's math! Who cares if we know how to write?

Speaking of rampant stupidity, having lunch at 10:45am is pretty stupid as well. I mean, COME ON! I eat breakfast at 10:00!

The last rather moronic point of today - Frank Kaberle is having surgery right before training camp - for the second year in a row! I mean I'm not calling him a moron (just his doctors) but COME ON! This is twice in a row that Kaberle has had a lingering injury that has needed surgery - right before the season starts. Last year it put him out for several months - luckily, this year it's only a few weeks. But the point remains - please, get your surgeries done early in the offseason! (Especially if you're in our rather shaky defensive corps...)

Several pennies for my thoughts

Thoughts that have crossed my mind in the last 24 hours (bullet-style!):

- I can't believe I'm going to school Monday.
- I can't wait for fantasy hockey to start up.
- Canes players are once again congregating at the RecZone - a sign that hockey will be starting soon!
- Please have Donald Driver be okay!
- I don't want to go to school!
- I am so glad I went to this Baltimore Orioles game and not this one.
- OW! Fire is hot!
- I think I'm addicted to this game.
- Michael Vick is an idiot, and the judge should throw out his plea bargain.
- Once again, Canes get screwed over by national television.
- Blogger polls' effectiveness is sporadic. But that won't stop me from using it!

Have fun clicking on all the links!

Summer's ending...

You know what's horrible? This time next week, I'll be back in school.

Ugh.

The good news is that, soon after school starts, it's hockey season! I cannot wait until I actually have something worthwhile to post on this blog...
