Well, the Canes were leading 5-1 going into the third period.
And they ended up losing 6-5 in a shootout.
I don't even know what to say. The Canes were playing so good in the first two periods. I mean, hello! Five goals: two on the power play, two by Eric Staal. I thought things were going great.
And then - Poof! - whatever the Canes had found that they had been lacking in their past games went away again, letting Philly score four straight goals in the third.
There was just no fire, no offense, no anything in the third. Philly came out strong and the Canes just didn't match at all.
And Michael Leighton looked completely lost in the shootout.
I don't know what to say. This was a disappointing loss for anyone who saw how the Canes clicked so well in the first 2/3rds of the game.
Next game is tomorrow against the Penguins. Hopefully it won't be so much of a letdown.

Yep, it was pretty horrible. Another loss last night, too, but at least they made it to OT. I am attending both games this week. I haven't seen them win yet this season (4 games so far), but I sure hope that trend changes!
