Canes win against Montreal

Canes won 5-3 against the Canadiens.

Canes didn't play very well in the first, trailing by one at the break. Apparently Laviolette went on a horrible rant in the first intermission, to help spark a fire under the Canes.

It worked.

Rod Brind'Amour had two power play goals in the second period, the first thanks to Cole screening the Montreal goalie Aebischer. The second was his 400th career goal. Chad LaRose had a short-handed goal to separate the two, off of a nice rebound from Craig Adams' shot.

In the third period, Erik Cole scored (Yes! Back in the lineup!), and Eric Staal had an empty net. Montreal scored on a penalty shot that shouldn't have been, but the Canes still won anyways.

Currently, I am happy with this win. Cam Ward looked pretty stellar throughout, and the Canes play in the second and third was good. It's a shame they have to have someone yelling at them to get them to play well.

The Canes are seventh in the East with this win, but only two away from the division co-leaders Tampa and Atlanta. (Please, Atlanta, continue on your losing skid!)

But, if the Canes continue to play like they did in the better two-thirds of the game, things are looking up for this Caniac.

Erik Cole stats: 1 goal, 1 assist
On the season: 25 goals, 26 assists

Maybe Lavi should yell at them every time they come out of a first period like that. No more Mr. Nice Guy! :)

If it gets them to win, I'm for it.
