At least we didn't lose all the way...

Canes lost in a shootout to the Banana Slu... *cough*... Buffalo Sabres, whose new logo should really crawl back into the hole from which it came because said logo is downright U-G-L-Y.
Anyways...

The final score was 3-2, Cole and Staal getting the goals, and Whitney getting assists on both. (Something tells me this will be a high-scoring line...)
Cam Ward wasn't too bad, the goals really couldn't be stopped, especially the goal that was tipped twice before it went in.
Gleason looked pretty solid on D, he played over 26 minutes! He also took 7 shots, tying Eric Staal and Chris Drury for the game-high. Maybe the Johnson trade isn't looking too bad, eh?

The shootout for the Canes didn't go too well. I don't get why they choose to go first. Don't you always want the other team to go first, so you know if you need to match what they did, or if you can take the lead? Put the pressure on them, right?
At least, that's the way it is in college football overtime - always go on defense first, if you have the chance.

Seeing the banner raised was kind of surreal. Like, you can barely believe that they actually won, and now it's a whole new season.
Kinda was too short of a summer, in a way.

Canes play tomorrow against New Jersey.

Erik Cole stats: 1 goal
