The game was pretty good - in the second period the Canes weren't taking enough shots, but it all turned out okay in the end. The refs weren't as abmysmal as they had been in the series, calling it fairly even.
Yes, I was freaking out when the Canes went down 2-1, but all was good in the end.
So the Canes have won the Eastern Conference, and the hardware that goes with it - the Prince of Wales trophy. And this time, Brind'Amour did not touch the darnded thing. (superstition - if you touch the trophy before you win the Cup - you won't win the Cup. Ex: '02 when Ron Francis carried the trophy to the fans. Canes lost to Detroit)
So, while this is an amazing accomplishment, the Canes still have one series to go. They will be playing the #8 seed of the West, the Edmonton Oilers. I know absolutely nothing about this team, except:
- Chris Pronger, a good defenseman, plays for them.
- Wayne Gretzky (aka The Great One) once played for them.
- The coach ripped the tongue out of the Calgary mascot.
